PERSONAL TESTIMONY OF YAP JAN KEE

I came from a family who followed Confucius’ teachings, but did not have any religious practices or altars in our house. In 1974, I became interested to know the God whom Christians worship. I started to read the Bible (King James Version) but having no prior knowledge of the Christian faith, it was difficult to understand the background of those historical events and I had many questions. One day my brother-in-law gave me a book written by Eugenia Price entitled “Beloved World” – a simplified story of God and people as told from the Bible.

This book led me to the knowledge of the very nature of God and His attributes. I was particularly impressed by the knowledge that God is a loving God and that He desires to have a relationship with us. After having an overview of who God is, I began to attend church service. Through the sermons, I began to realise Christ’s love for me, and was overwhelmed by His forgiveness through His death on the cross. Reading Christian books and periodicals were helpful in knowing God as they expounded passages from the Bible and explained God’s character. When I read the book entitled “Who Moved The Stone?” written by Frank Morison, I found the answers to my questions, and I received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour a year later, in 1975.

I was and still am very fascinated by the Words and Works of Jesus Christ and His resurrection. I thank God for leading me to seek Him through the reading of His Word. All these years God has been my refuge and strength an ever-present help in trouble – His love never fails! God’s promises give me comfort, peace, strength and assurance. Our God is an awesome God. To God be the glory.
